Introduction to Employment Law Solicitors
Employment law is a complex area and this micro site introduces the services of a team of boutique employment law solicitors who work nationally dealing with both employers and employees who have employment law queries, questions and concerns. Our trading name on this website is Tribunal Solicitors but we are Bennett’s Legal Limited.
We offer a fixed fee review of your position to start the process off. It is important you understand what the Tribunal or Court will expect of you.
What Employment Law Solicitors offer:
- Employment law solicitors who are experts and specialists in employment law matters.
- An initial fixed fee consultation to ensure you understand fully your position. We review your position, the evidence and guide on your options.
- A boutique employment law firm experience – client focused, expert tailored advice and a deep understanding of your case and inevitably experience of similar cases.
- In-house advocacy expertise through qualified solicitor advocates.
Our Clients:
- UK and European businesses – We are often instructed by HR Directors or Finance/Managing Directors;
- SMEs (owner managed businesses);
- Football clubs and small PLCs;
- Individuals who earn £30,000-£500,000 per annum;
- Expatriate employees of UK companies or subsidiaries operating outside the UK but whose employment contract gives them UK based rights.
- Our work is split 70/30 in favour of employers to employees. We enjoy acting for both and it ensures we can understand the other legal team’s tactics.
Our Fees:
- 95% of our clients pay privately;
- We offer fixed fees (including staged fees for specific elements) or hourly rates to suit your individual needs.
- We can advise on insurance company funded matters. If you think your house insurance (or any other insurance policy) includes Legal Expenses Insurance contact them immediately and request our services.
- In exceptional cases we can offer damages based agreements. These are sometimes called a no win no fee agreement and we take a percentage of your successful claim award. You still pay expenses (such as experts costs, travel, etc) regardless of the outcome.
- Please note we do not offer Legal Aid or publicly funded help.

Protect Yourself:
Whilst employment law is complicated, it is not exclusively the reserve of solicitors who operate to high professional standards and who are heavily regulated. A number of Claims Management Companies (CMCs), Employment Law Consultancies and HR Consultancies exist offering similar services. Some operate UK wide and inevitably some are very good and some are not.
Unfortunately, we regularly pick up the pieces of poor advice from CMCs and Consultancies. Often clients do not realise these “employment law firms” are not solicitors firms until it is too late.
In 2006 the government introduced the Compensation Act 2006 to restrict who could act for individuals bringing a Tribunal claim. Companies and businesses do not have the same protection so the quality of advice we see varies. The real shame is that law firms may be cheaper than these firms who trade on myths such as “solicitors cost more” or “we are CIPD qualified HR Professionals and can do the same job.” Advocacy is a specialist skill, hence even many qualified solicitors do not practice as advocates and whilst the CIPD qualification is an excellent people management qualification it contains no advocacy training. To appear before an Employment Tribunal you need no qualification or experience.
Only solicitor advocates and barristers are permitted to appear before all the Courts; solicitors and legal executives have restricted rights of audience. Why would you go to a tribunal with someone who is not an advocate?
Even if you do not choose us we suggest you deal with a solicitors firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority because this protects you and you will have access to a robust complaints procedure inclusive of the protections offered by the Legal Ombudsman.
